Under the heading \u2018Anarchist Extremists: Antifa\u2019, the njhomelandsecurity.gov website<\/a><\/span> characterizes Antifa under the designation of \u201cdomestic terrorism\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past year, Antifa groups have become active across the United States, employing a variety of methods to disrupt demonstrations,\u201d states the advisory, before going on to list a number of violent disruptions, including Milo Yiannopoulos\u2019 speaking event at the University of California Berkeley on February 1st, which was cancelled after members of Antifa violently attacked free speech advocates.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The advisory also lists how Antifa has engaged in doxxing of individuals to expose them to abuse and violent harassment.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The designation is of course completely valid since Antifa fits the very definition of terrorism, which is \u201cthe unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The group has also staged numerous violent riots<\/a>, including during the inauguration of Donald Trump, that have caused millions of dollars worth of property damage.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There have been innumerable violent attacks on Trump supporters<\/a> by members of Antifa over the last six months, although the mainstream media has barely reported on them.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Back in May, Diablo Valley College professor Eric Clanton was arrested for a series of sickening assaults<\/a> in which he used a metal bike lock to attack Trump supporters at a free speech rally in Berkeley. … ”

Anti-fascist groups, or \u201cAntifa,\u201d are a subset of the anarchist movement and focus on issues involving racism, sexism, and anti-Semitism, as well as other perceived injustices.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

  • Self-described Antifa groups have been established across the United States and in several major cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco. A majority of New Jersey-based anarchist groups are affiliated with the Antifa movement and are opposed to \u201cfascism,\u201d racism, and law enforcement. Antifa groups coordinate regionally and have participated in protests in New York City and Philadelphia. There are three loosely organized chapters in New Jersey, known as the North Jersey Antifa, the South Jersey Antifa, and the HubCity Antifa New Brunswick (Middlesex County).<\/strong><\/em><\/span>

  • In December 2016, a group known as the Antifascist Action-Nebraska engaged in a doxing campaign against a prominent member of American Vanguard, a white supremacist organization. The group published his personal information on several social media platforms and posted fliers on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, calling for his expulsion.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>

  • On March 28, a small fight occurred between Antifa members and supporters of the US President during a rally in Seaside Heights (Ocean County).\u00a0\u00a0Because of advance publicity about the event on social media, local and state law enforcement officers were able to keep altercations to a minimum.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Antifa: Inciting Violence Toward Far-Right Extremists<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Violent confrontations between Antifa members and white supremacists\u2014as well as militia groups\u2014will likely continue because of ideological differences and Antifa\u2019s ability to organize on social media.     • On April 18, following the Patriots Day Free Speech Rally in Berkeley, California\u2014which turned violent\u2014an Antifa member wrote, \u201cEvery Nazi that gets punched is a victory. . . . We must realize that these days are going to become more and more common, unless we put a nail in this coffin once and for all.\u201d \u00a0On March 29, as a response to an Antifa post on social media, a national militia group wrote in an online article, \u201cWhenever their kind [Antifa] assumes power, individual freedom, including of speech and worship, is brutally suppressed.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/span>

    • Beginning in March, the Philadelphia Antifa Chapter used Facebook to encourage followers to disrupt a \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d event in Philadelphia, resulting in over 300 participants. Antifa\u2019s presence resulted in law enforcement shutting down the event early for safety concerns. As of May, a manual on how to form an Antifa group\u2014posted on a well-known Anarchist website in February\u2014had approximately 13,500 views.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>

    • On February 1, the University of California Berkeley canceled a controversial speaker\u2019s appearance following a protest by approximately 100 Antifa members. In response, far-right extremists assembled at a free-speech rally, which Antifa members disrupted, resulting in 10 arrests and seven injuries. Additionally, on April 15, Antifa and far-right extremists clashed at a demonstration, leading to 23 arrests and 11 injuries.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • In June 2016, 300 counter-protesters, including anarchist extremists, attacked 25 members of the white supremacist Traditionalist Worker Party with knives,\u00a0bottles, bricks, and concrete from a construction site while rallying at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, injuring 10.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
