• CFS and disability do not go hand in hand ….

Here we have two fairly recent TWIT-er page screen shots of our great CFS ontario organizer and his thoughts on disability .

It appears that Mr. Duff thinks that persons who live with a brain in jury are not well enough informed to make good and sound decisions about who to vote for as the city of Toronto’s next mayor. What ?ypu mean even WE ( persons who live with a brain injury ) are able to vote based on who WE feel is the best candidate ?

Next, Mr Duff reminds un of the Robert latimer case, the person who killed his daughter who lived with a disablity. it seems that according to Mr.  Duff this murder should be allowed to go free and enjoy his life , while taking away the life of a person he has the responsability to raise .

  • Some great and soon to be famous quotes

“… You’re the most dangerous and destructive person I hav eeven known … ”

Joel Duff CFS Ontario Organizer . Hey , does this mean the person he said this to is  EVEN MORE dangerous than Charles Manson and Al Capone ?

And speaking of other really stupid comments , here isnone from the GM of the Ryerson Student Center as he and his fellow CFS/ student union cohorts keep trying to find new ways to ban a student. behold the stupidity of this comment:

“… Mr. _______ said that Mr. N. was NOT harassing any staff right now but that they wanted him banned because he would in the future … “

OK , now everyone who reads this is to right away head over to thier local court house and pay a $100.00 fine for speeding. I know, you will not hav eactually received a speeding ticket or were even pulled over , but you will in the future.  On a related note, contact the executive of the Ryerson Student Union right away as they will be able to tell you in advance what the winning number combination will be for the upcoming lottery results. This is possible because they seeming know what will take place in the future.

  • Is there anything this guy actually supports ?

Of does he simply protest because his life is so meaningless and trivial, filled with would have’s , could haves and if only’s , that all he has left is to show is disstain for anyone he does not agre with ? Hey, dude, we pay you hundreds of thousands of OUR student dollars to work for US , not for you to stick your mug shot in front of a sign and show your usual disrespect for anyone who can actually THINK and have a real policy, something you can never dream of ever aspiring to.

Protesters demand withdrawal of G20 charges

    By KEVIN CONNOR, QMI Agency

    Last Updated: August 23, 2010 9:25pm

TORONTO – More than 100 G20 activists converged on Toronto Police headquarters Monday night demanding the withdrawal of all charges laid against protesters at June’s summit.

“I was offended by the police tactics and all charges should be dropped. We are here to put a call out for justice and we are asking for an inquiry into what was a police state,” said Joel Duff, who protested during the summit with the Canadian Federation of Students.

Some G20 charges were dropped Monday during a marathon court session for more than 300 people who were scheduled to appear for alleged summit offences.

The group, assembled at the police department’s headquarters, demanded that Attorney General Chris Bentley intervene and personally drop charges.

“Crown counsel assesses each case on its individual facts and circumstances and will speak to the matter in court at the appropriate time,” said Brendan Crawley, spokesman for the Ministry of the Attorney General. “As in all cases, the ministry cannot comment on matters currently before the court out of fairness to the victims, witnesses and accused.”

Tammy Moreau had her charges of obstruction of a police officer dropped Monday.

“I didn’t expect the G20 would get as bad as it did,” said Moreau, who spent 24 hours in the makeshift G20 detention centre. “We are here to be peaceful, but we need our message to be heard.”

Anna Willats with the Toronto Community Mobilization Network said it’s really unfortunate the group had to gather to try to get charges dropped.

“They are handing out bail conditions that are saved for very violent criminals and some people’s lives have been greatly impacted. We know how to keep our protests safe, and police shouldn’t be pointing guns at demonstrators. They also should have to wear a name badge in these situations,” Willats said.

Hey, Duff, here is concept to ponder over, don’t riot and commit crimes like setting police cars on fire and breaking windows and looting, and chances are pretty good that you will not get arrested when participating in a LEGAl protest. Interesting how you semingly defend these acts of criminality yet, don’t even bother to addess REAL STUDENT concerns that you are paid to do .

  • I am EL Presidente , I run this world …..

A very recent  rquest to the person who looks after the finaces of the student union with respects to past staff persons ended up a little on the strange side when the student in question , a student with a disability made a request to get her financial records as part of an application for a student loan. The request was about to be fullfilled until , time went by and no answer was forthcoming. The student went to the office personally and wa stold in a very rude and condesending tone that all requests from her HAVE to be approved by the RSU president. One problem , the president was at a conference , a CFS conference and was unable to be at the school all weekend. the student needed this information by MONDAY. So , from this we can learn that RSU executives use OUR money to go to conferences that have nothing to do with Ryerson students and indeed , ignore Ryerson students . Thanks RSU .

  • What the head organizer of the CFS really thinks of person living with a brain injury

It appears that according to the head organizer of the CFS seems to think ( or lack thereof ) that persons who live with a brain injury are not able to make informed decisions about local politics.Duff , it may surprise you know that persons who live with brain injuries CAN indeed decide for themselves who they think is the best suited person to run for office.

  • MORE RSU crap and activities they have become famous for

    “…

Rob Emerson is no stranger to controversy. When the aforementioned website was registered, he held the position of Operations Manager of RyeSAC. In that capacity, he had been criticized by Sajjad Wasti, former VP Finance and Services, for allegedly making business decisions that benefited the Canadian Federation of Students rather than the students of Ryerson. Emerson weathered that storm, and was elevated to the position of General Manager when Brad Lavigne, the former GM (and former National Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students) left Ryerson to become NDP Director of Communications. Emerson later left RyeSAC to become General Manager of the Student Campus Centre (SCC), an entity distinct from the student union. Shortly after taking the helm of the SCC, however, he was attacked by his former employer. Under the leadership of President Rebecca Rose (incidentally, an ally of top political operative Jeremy Salter), the RSU accused their former GM of acting in a conflict of interest; tried to fire Mr. Emerson and his top staff; when that failed, moved to end all cooperation between the RSU and the SCC; and is currently encouraging students to bombard his email address until the SCC restocks its feminine hygeine product dispensers, on the grounds that “Pads and Tampons are our RIGHT not a PRIVLEDGE!” [sic]. But despite this controversy, the RSU apparently comfortable having their former GM continue to manage their CCSA domain name.

  • Yet more great feats of the CFS

Oh look , here is more of our very honourable CFS  leaders hard at work… for themselves , as usual . Behold:

“… Jeremy Salter, who raised eyebrows in 2005 when it was revealed that he was running for an executive vice-president position of the Centennial College Student Association at the same time that he was president of the Continuing Education Students’ Association at Ryerson (CESAR). His priority “had always been Centennial” he told the Eyeopener, Ryerson student newspaper. While at CESAR, Mr. Salter guided that organization towards the loving arms of the Canadian Federation of Students, and fired the editors of NightViews, the CESAR-published campus paper. Mr. Salter’s other priorities over the years have included being President of the Lakehead University Student Union in 2001 and acting as Chief Returning Officer of the 2006 York Federation of Students elections (and allegedly acting in biased fashion in that capacity).  … ”

BLOG: RSU president-elect Toby Whitfield taped, accused of defacing U of T campus

    March 14, 2010 Comments: 10 | By Meaghan Zabinsky

RSU president-elect Toby Whitfield was recently caught on tape hurriedly walking away from defaced posters at University of Toronto’s St. George campus.

The video, filmed and uploaded by U of T student Antonin Mongeau, depicts Whitfield pacing in front of a wall of posters, before cutting to a shot of crumpled EFUT French Club posters advertising a crepe lunch and other EFUT events. Mongeau, whose YouTube username is Brahpster, approaches Toby about the crumpled posters, but Toby ignores him and busies himself with his BlackBerry.

“I said ‘Hi, Toby,’ because I recognized him,” recalls Mongeau. “I negotiated a poster truce with him. I often poster for the French Club, so I showed him our posters and I said “It would be real cool if you could not cover our posters and we could not cover yours.” Mongeau then says he continued to poster the St. George campus.

Mongeau and Whitfield’s second encounter is the one initially shown in the video. Mongeau perceived Whitfield’s presence as ‘interfering’ with the U of T student elections, and wanted to ask Whitfield himself. “…I approach him with my camera, and that’s the footage that you see in the video of me asking him questions, asking if he is Toby Whitfield of the RSU, and he’s not very forthcoming.”

It is a few hours later when Mongeau sees Whitfield for the third time. “I was out in the back of Sid Smith … I literally see Toby come out rip down our posters – and just our posters!” Mongeau catches Whitfield on film, but a building between Mongeau and Whitfield causes Mongeau to miss catching Toby’s actual defacement on film.

Mongeau called the campus police, whom, according to eventually apprehended Whitfield outside of the Gerstein Library, while postering for Stronger Together. “If you look at the video, I think I ask him five or ten times, and at no point does he deny tearing down the posters, because he knows he did it,” says Mongeau. “He 100 per cent did it. I saw him do it. Without a doubt.”

EFUT president Sitelle Cheskey was both disapointed and confused when she heard about the incident. “Why?” she asks, “What did we ever do to him?”

‘[I am] disappointed, because as a student leader, he should know how hard it is to run events. Postering is one of the most important things we do as a club, and his actions showed complete disrespect for club involvement in general,” she says.

Despite the defacement, Chesky says that the crepe event was a “great success.”

“I am not disappointed in Ryerson itself, or its students,” says Chesky, “but I think that Ryerson students should be aware of the fact that one of their paid representatives is spending time outside of his university and therefore duty, interfering with another university’s property, and that they should know where their money is going.” … “
