There is a great deal of protesting going on in Montreal right now, most of them being students, hard working students who truely and honestly care about tuition fees and how this will effect them in the long run. I agree that fees are very high and while i do understand the reasoning behind high fees, I do not agree with them.
That being said, there is a right way and a wrong way to protest something where one seeks change. However, I do NOT in any way shape of form respect, side with, tolerate or condone any form of of violence. Further, please do not represent yourselves as student protestors who are looking after my interests and well being with this crap :
I am NOT a fucking Nazi and I do not wish to have this type of support from anyone to further my desire for lower tuition fees.
This is what is going on in Montreal right now. This is they type of anarchy that will destroy any chance of attaining lower tuition fees. This is exactly the type of action that destroys the credibility of honest, legitimate advocates for real causes. Its crap like this that paints each and every honest, trustworthy and reputable advocate with an anarchist, criminal, black bloc styled brush.
I spent the better part of this morning helping to support and advocate for a student with a disability to be allowed to provide a series of past due assignments with new dates and without any late penalties. How is it that i was able to do this , simply by being polite, clear, articulate, aware of the issues, able to offer suggestions that could work, and even though i am a student, i was able to be 100% successful. The reason is simple. there was respect on both sides, awareness and knowledge of the issues on both sides , and lastly, respect for the system in place now. Oh yes, we were also able to advocate to make a major change to the system in place now. Not bad for ONE meeting .
This is what some of the student groups and organizations want to bring to Toronto as well. NO THANKS. These action in Montreal do NOT speak for the real students and they certainly do NOT speak for me.
Recently, the Canadian Federation of Students gave Thirty Thousand of yours and my student dollars to support this type of pathetic display. Thirty grand of OUR student money that could have actually helped other students , but instead, they decided that somehow hitler-esk salutes would work well enough to lower student post secondary education tuition fees.
I would like to conclude this by making it very clear that the actions depicted here are NOT indicative of all student protestors , therefore, i also do wish to paint all those who protest with this brush .
This was the call out by a major player in the anarchist community to bring chaos and destruction to the city of Montreal during a major event. These people ,on one hand complain about high tuition fees, then on the other hand , want to disrupt the very event, and other such events that bring millions of tax dollars to the city and government to help offset some of these very same fees.
Here is the comment / call out in question:

– Disrupt the Montreal Grand Prix
– Support Quebec’s General & Social Strike
An Anti-Capitalist/Anti-Authoritarian Convergence
June 6-10, 2012 – MONTREAL
The Anti-Capitalist Convergence of Montreal (CLAC) is calling for an anti-capitalist/anti-authoritarian presence in Montreal to disrupt the Grand Prix “jet-set”, and to support Quebec’s ongoing student strike, which has become a larger “social strike.” The Convergence is also in defiance of Quebec’s new special law against protesters and the student strike.
We encourage our allies and friends from all over Quebec, the Maritimes, Ontario, and anywhere else to converge on Montreal this coming week.
There’s a schedule of various protests and activities noted at the following links:
– http://www.bloquonslahausse.com/calendrier/
Basically, downtown Montreal will be a protest zone against the Grand Prix and in support of the social strike. Disruptions are part of a larger strategy of economic disruption to fight back against the tuition hikes, and more broadly to resist neo-liberalism and austerity. Several community groups signed a solidarity statement that is linked here: http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/en/francais-solidarite-avec-la-greve-generale-etudiante
If you’re coming for the Convergence, it’s useful to arrive by Wednesday, and stay for the weekend, but come for as long as you can.
There is a disruption planned for opening cocktail of the Grand Prix on the late afternoon of Thursday, June 7. More info about it here: http://www.clac-montreal.net/en/grandsoir
For all actions, your self-organization and autonomy is essential. This is a decentralized convergence. Come prepared and organized.
[LEGAL INFORMATION: http://www.clac-montreal.net/en/GPLegalInformation]
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to organize transport or housing, so we’re counting on your self-organization skills.
CLAC will be posting useful legal information about protesting in Montreal on our website shortly. We can provide numbers of sympathetic lawyers, and offer basic support.
Hope to see you on the streets of Montreal next week!
